If you would like to be inside the Command Module watching the earth from above, see and trigger the Lunar Module undock, and then take a walk on the lunar ground then all you need to do is to come along to the Southdown Planetarium on Saturday and take part.

VIRTUAL REALITY

Virtual reality is the creation of a virtual environment presented to our senses in such a way that we experience it as if we were really there. It uses a host of technologies to achieve this goal and is a technically complex feat that has to account for our perception and cognition. It has both entertainment and serious uses. Develop an enjoyable and immersive Virtual Reality experience require several technical skills and some "hours of flight".

AUGMENTED REALITY

Augmented reality is the integration of digital information with the user's environment in real time. Unlike virtual reality, which creates a totally artificial environment, augmented reality uses the existing environment and overlays new information on top of it.
We find challenging to develop several layers of content in order to engage the largest target possible.

The Challenge:

It Is The End was approached by Xerjoff, a luxury high-end perfume company, to develop an immersive experience at Harrods as part of a showcase event of exquisite and rare products. This is the most iconic store in the world, so it was essential that this was a world-class experience and that the Xerjoff brand stood out from the crowd. The client wanted the experience to tell their story and at the same time engage audiences from around the world. As a virtual reality and augmented reality specialist, the client knew that It Is The End was the best company to advise and create an experience to meet their requirements.

The Solution:

"That experience was actually amazing. It was nice to get to get an introduction of Xerjoff in this way. I’ve never experienced technology like that before and flying through the product range like that was amazing."

After listening to the needs of the client, It Is The End planned the experience carefully, even visiting Harrods and the location of the boutique where the event would take place. This enabled the company to mock up a replica of the boutique in VR. This meant that the person would not automatically be taken to a different environment when they first put the headset on, which allowed for maximum immersion. It Is The End then created a simulation whereby the room slowly dissolves in front of them with animated butterflies flying towards them. The person could then fly in the sky beside all the perfume collections of Xerjoff. Following this, they arrived at a grand house with music, dancers and the corporate showreel of Xerjoff playing in front of them enabling them to engage on a unique and more personal level to the brand. It was quite simply an unforgettable and memorable experience.

The Results:

"The virtual reality experience here at Harrods for Xerjoff took me to new dimensions and new worlds. It was just magnificent."

It Is The End know that the more engaged customers are, the more likely they’ll take action. The experience for Xerjoff not only gained a lot of positive comments and potential new customers, it was also developed on time and to budget. The client was also very happy that the experience exceeded their specification. This interactive experience showed how you can break new ground to show a product range and connect customers to your brand.

Walk on the moon with exclusive VR experience to mark moon landing anniversary
For those who were not around to witness the moon landing in 1969, or for those who want to relive it, then you can finally get a taste of what it felt like with a VR experience at the Southdown Planetarium to mark the moon landing’s 50th anniversary.
The experience has been created for It Is The End for Xerjoff to mark the anniversary of the moon landing.
The VR journey enabled to experience the main phases of the Apollo 11 missions, see the Cape Kennedy site, trigger the Saturn V rocket launch and much more.

Xerjoff Boutique Apollonia launch event

An exhibition, dedicated to the astrophotographer Stefano De Rosa, is held at the Xerjoff Gallery in Turin celebrating the bewitching beauty of the Moon. Xerjoff’s vocation to interrelate with the most diverse artistic expressions results in an exhibition taking place at the Xerjoff’s Flagship Store Gallery located in Turin (Via Cavour 1) until December 8th. The exhibition entitled “Dal Po al mare della tranquillità” (“From the Po river to the sea of tranquility”) collects several shots by Stefano De Rosa all portraying the Moon as the protagonist. The images produced by this astrophotographer are the result of meticulous planning and the obtained through the use of powerful telephoto lenses thanks to which the dimensions of the Moon appear magnified, creating unusual perspectives with the adjacent monuments and landscapes it illuminates.

Anywhere Else - VR for Cancer

The best minds in cancer research and virtual reality are coming together to create an original product to help cancer patients - and you can be a part of it by backing it! Dr Jacqueline Hall, a leading mind in cancer research, and Stefano Bianchi, a VR specialist, want to fund a personalised VR experience for patients to use while undergoing chemotherapy to reduce fear and stress. They have already started work on a basic version and tested it on patients. The response was very positive and has spurred them on to go further. However, funding is required to develop a comprehensive first version to test, and then following certification it will be able to be rolled out to patients for free. Why support Anywhere Else: Cancer treatment causes psychological stress. The VR experience is designed to temporarily immerse patients into another world to help improve their quality of life. Anywhere Else is personalised to the user’s preference and age to make the treatment less distressing. If you take, for instance, a child who is experiencing treatment it can be extremely daunting having treatment for hours in a hospital. A VR headset can take them to a child-friendly world, where it’s not as scary. Dr Jacqueline Hall explains more: “The Anywhere Else VR experience is all about improving the experience for those undergoing cancer treatment. Anything we can do to reduce the feelings of loneliness and distress for people going through this is good for our patients wellbeing. Working with Stefano, a leading VR mind who is passionate about making the lives of cancer patients better, means that together - and with your support - we can make a big difference.”

Stefano Bianchi, CEO, It Is The End


Stefano is originally from Turin, Italy. After graduating in Graphic Design, he developed skills in VR and AR through working in agencies and learning in his own time. It was his passion and ability to inspire, that led him to be a regular guest lecturer of game design, digital publishing and VR/AR at IED (Istituto Europeo di Design). Stefano has worked for a range of companies and agencies in the last 21 years, and this expertise has all gone into his business, It Is The End LTD, founded in 2018. The company works on digital research and development with a focus on innovation and problem solving. VR and AR are the main activities of the business and they have worked with many clients including Xerjoff, a luxury brand, but the company is also keen to be involved in projects that use these technologies to have a positive impact on social problems and quality of life. This particular project is really close to Stefano’s heart because of direct experience and he is excited about the positive impact this technology can have on people suffering with cancer. Stefano’s leadership and experience in this field will see him being a guest speaker at the 2020 Horasis Global Meeting discussing ‘Developing Decisive Leadership theme through Times of Disruption’.


Dr Hall BIO (VR)


Dr Jacqueline Hall has a PhD in cancer research and has spent more than 15 years working in cancer research and drug discovery and development. After completing her PhD in Scotland, UK and two years postdoctoral research in Canada, Dr Hall worked for a not for profit cancer organisation called the European Organisation for Research and Treatment in Cancer (EORTC) in Brussels for 5 years, transforming traditional clinical trials to personalised medicine studies with cancer treatments targeted to specific molecular aberrations within tumour cells. She also helped to establish processes to support European translational research studies in cancer and worked with several EU programs to achieve this. Dr Hall went on to help found be the Director of a new not-for-profit organisation in Luxembourg called the International Quality Network for Pathology (IQN Path ASBL) which has the mission to improve and support high quality cancer diagnostic testing in pathology worldwide. Dr Hall has also worked in large scale DNA sequencing programmes and worked with an American genomics company Seven Bridges Genomics providing software solutions for large scale biomedical data analysis and also has an interest in digital pathology. Throughout her career Dr Hall has always maintained close links to patient advocacy groups, working with patients to achieve the goals that matter when it comes to cancer treatment and cancer research.
